figured this would be the best forum, might be wrong though.. but here goes:
does anyone here have any suggestions for good "logic" games? example: I used to play "The 7th Guest" on my old pc. basically, you walk around a house solving logic puzzles. However, i can't play it on my pc due to windows xp and it freezes my laptop. so, basically, it's too old of a game. it's run on DOS. I XP i get an error message for XMS and my dad sais the only way to fix it is run windows 98 dual boot with xp.
that's a pain in the ass.
for the laptop, i have no clue what's going on. david got it to load, but it froze. then when i tried to restart, it kept freezng on me. so i give up.
now i'm looking for a new logic game to play. i don't know if anyone here is into logic or puzzles but i figured i'd try and see if anyone has some suggestions for newer games to play that involve brainteasers and logic? (if you wanna know what i mean, try taking an IQ test.. they're fun)
i'm not looking for online games or puzzles, but actually games like the 7th guest or phantasmagoria. or, if you can help me get the 7th guest workig without dual bootig, that'd work too. thanks!

Kinda like this (http://www.inmemoriam-thegame.com/gb/gam5.htm#gam5.htm) type of game? I saw it a while ago and got it thinking I would play it later on. Read that the killer gives you emails and thought it was cool. , but nah I never touched it heh
PRINCIPLE
An investigation experience to track a serial killer.
Reality and fiction are blurred in this movie style thriller game.
Enter the game of The Phoenix using e-mail, the internet and movie footage to solve his puzzles in a dark and thrilling environment.
In Memoriam is played using a CD-Rom but to make progress in the adventure, the player also connects to the Internet to find information that’s essential to accomplish some of the missions. At certain key moments, he receives snippets of film that the serial killer stole from the journalist. Use those extracts to reconstruct the events that led Jack and Karen into the clutches of the serial killer and save them from death.
Many of the story details are based on true facts, reality and fiction are being superimposed on one another: real and fake Internet sites, virtual characters who send you e-mail messages, … Follow the steps of a real serial killer.

Humm you might want to try running the 7th guest in a VMware window running Dos 6.22. VMWare is a program that lets you enulate a whole other pc in a window, and you could install the os of your choice. When done just close the window.
I can let you try my copy of it at the next lan.

No... You've just sobered up. I know it doesn't feel right--just get to the nearest bar (Hoss should be there waiting) and order a shot of 151. :chair: :sm:

Starship Titanic? http://www.simonsays.com/starshiptitanic/
I have it and haven't played much yet. I mostly am interested because of Douglas Adams...
... Game is kinda old, actually. 1997 I think. But still... it's Douglas Adams.

DeadLamb- I downloaded the demo, and though that isn't what I mean, it is still pretty addicting!
Asken- I didn't see any info about the game on that link, so I don't know what it's about.

Starship titanic is kind of like Seventh guest meets Myst. The Graphics are beautiful and puzzles will make you want to hit your self with a hammer. Hope that helps.
oh and the hint book is a must.

Michelle, have you played all of the Myst-type games? Myst, Riven, Myst III... I'll bring them on Saturday if you haven't, along with Blade Runner (which was not too bad) and a few others I have from the beginning of time.

I never saw this message Tony otherwise I would have said hell yeah.
but david just bought me the 10th aniversary edition of Myst that includes all 3 games. My main concern is since he has a Lan, most of the games I play are multiplayer, and when he finishes his comic script and gets to drawing comics every night, I'm gonna be pretty bored again. So he bought me the Myst set!
But... I think this means I have to actually start cleaning his apartment and make dinner every night now. *sigh* damn his jedi mind tricks.

GM ~ If you go to your 7th Guest executable file, and right-click/properties, you should get a box with a tab labled "compatability". Simply check the box to run in compatability mode, and pick an OS that's pre-WinXP. That should take care of the problem.
