From another forum:

For my Republican Friends:
Here's wishing all of You a
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

For my Democrat Friends:

"Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, our best
wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible,
low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter
solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of
the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of
your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion
and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice
religious or secular traditions at all. We also wish you a fiscally
successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated
recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year
2006, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of
other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make
America great. Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than
any other country nor the only America in the Western Hemisphere.
And without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability,
religious faith or sexual preference of the wishee. By accepting
these greetings you are accepting these terms. This greeting is
subject to clarification or withdrawal. It is freely transferable
with no alteration to the original greeting. It implies no promise
by the wisher to actually implement any of the wishes for herself or
himself or others, and is void where prohibited by law and is
revocable at the sole discretion of the wisher. This wish is
warranted to perform as expected within the usual application of
good tidings for a period of one year or until the issuance of a
subsequent holiday greeting, whichever comes first, and warranty is
limited to replacement of this wish or issuance of a new wish at the
sole discretion of the wisher."

Maybe I'm wrong here.... but I don't think a liberal wrote that. :D

This would only be correct if the conservative part had an equally long rant about how their kid's school doesn't do Christmas plays anymore, how stores don't advertise Christmas sales anymore, and how Jesus is not really celebrated during this (pagan) holiday. The overzealous Christians are are at least as common as the comparable liberals.

On this note, I heard that stores in New York (Macy's, Saks, etc...) have been showing slides in profits for the past few years. This year they went with the "Merry Christmas" vs. "Happy Holidays" theme, and their profits have been going up. Keep in mind, I am not sure of the validity of this information, and I think this info was captured before the transportation strike.

That's accurate Mikey. When companies began the "Happy Holidays" BS is wasn't because of political groups, it was because they feared that they alienated some costumers and by extension were losing PROFITS. They did see an increase in sales those first couple years when it was done in moderation, but they have reached the downward slope on the profit curve. I bet next year you'll see an over abundance of Merry Christmas.

That's kinda strange. I wonder if there are any other underlying fiscal reasons why the sales are down because it just sounds weird that a decline in sales would coincide with the omittance of "Merry Christmas".

retail sales numbers are always so suspect to a bounce factor being they have no true base line, just "last year"..

have a good year and then an ok year it looks bad.. Have a bad year, then an ok year it all of sudden looks like some record setting year when it really just "ok"

Just like with anything, I'm sure the radical christian side wants everyone to believe that it's cuz of the lack of "Merry Christmas" - extremeists on either side a subject are awful.

So fucking gay. I mean - come on - It's one thing to stop religious sacrifices in school - ok, I can kinda understand that. But to make everything so fucking PC that you can't tell a co-worker "Merry Christmas" for fear that Ahmed Abdul Jabbar Kareem of Wheet might get offended really frustrates me. And to the next level, I'd be willing to bet that most of the people who don't recognize the christian holiday, could give a fuck less if whitey has a christmas tree, santa claus and baby jesus chia pet in my cube.

Well said, Mr. Mykul. I concur.

whitey better have a black baby jesus chia pet...

honestly I could give a fuck about Christmas. Say merry christmas and it doesn't bother me, just don't get pissed when I say the last time I had a merry christmas was 20 years ago. And if you start with the whole religious thing you can be sure to expect me to say, "wasn't Jesus the guy who got killed for bugging everyone about god"

My thing is this. If Macys, Target, Jack in the Box, or PG&E posted a big ass HAPPY KWANZA ad in the Sac Bee, I wouldn't be the least fucking bit offended. People need to lighten the fuck up.
