Ok, so about a week ago i was going to bed and i shutdown my computer. So i press shutdown and it just goes back to my desktop and i go "wtf" and i go back and press shutdow 4 more times and for some reason it won't shutdown, then after about 2-3 minutes it just shuts down fine.

It's been doing that ever since last week and i have no idea WTF is causing it, i think its a program in the backround closing but i am not sure. All i have running on the taskbar is the sound menu, my logitech mouseware icon, and the network thingy. I already ran "The Cleaner" (www.moosoft.com) and it came up with no trojans at all.

I'm wondering what is causing this and has this ever happended to any of you?

Any help would be appreciated.

1. What OS is it?
2. If 2k or XP, create a new user and login as that user.
3. Shut down - if it shuts down gracefully then there is something running as the other user. If it doesn't shut down gracefully, then your PC is fux0red and you should get a Mac.

Also, boot up in safe mode (hold down the shift key at startup I think) then see if it shuts down normally. If it does, then it is probably a 3rd party app

f8 key when starting for the options

it must be your agp port ;P

but seriously mine was doing that as well before.. I think the same usb device causing my vid card problems was behind it (since it kept trying to access things I basicly had to try and shut down enough times to where the system "locked" then it would shut down

I am on a new crusade to kill usb devices

Problem solved.

Apparently the logitech itouch program (useless) was causing it.

Oh well stop that from starting up and everything works fine :).
