Oh man - just got this in my email - it talks about LNP (Local Number Portability) and how it will affect the industry. Verizon Wireless broke the 'united front' and said "BRING LNP ON!"
Stirrin up the pot for sure!
Portability will throw millions of callers up for grabs. Nine million users are so fed up with their carriers that they want to switch the very first day of the new rules, according to a survey by telecom consultancy TMNG. Another 30 million are prepared to follow as soon as another carrier gives them a better deal.
So with LNP, do you think you'll change carriers when it becomes a reality? In all honesty - even tho I work for Verizon Wireless - I might be lured to a competeitor <sigh>

The only reason I still haven't left Surewest is the hassle of changing my number. But that new law is awesome! I can finally be free of surewest!!
Damn Sprint for having such expensive plans. I'd switch back in a heartbeat after this new law.. I'm definately switching the day after that law is in effect. But I may go with AT&T because I liked their plan best.

I hated Cingular so much, I paid the blood money to get out of the contract AND had to get a new number.
Yeah, it was *that* bad.
Verizon has been much better, mostly due to the bad-ass phone D()M hooked me up with. Thanks D()M!

good thing about surewest: my contract, unlimited minutes for 1 year at 39 a month, expired in march. however, they did not make me sign aother contract. and i called and they said there is no longer a cacellation fee since i finished my contract. however, my rates haven't skyrocketed like i thought they would (since technically i am now month-to-month, which is like 49 a month).
bad thing: they only use specific phones due to their wave frequency (or some techniocal thing like that). therefore, in order to get rid of my shitty service, i would need to either
a. assume it's surewest and go to another company.
b. assume it's my motorola v.120 and buy a new phon.
both involve spending money. damn.
i used to be on my parents sprint plan for employees, and i got a discount. i had a kyocera, and it was great. i never once had a bad connection or lost service. but then they went to at&t so i switched to surewest since at the time i actually had a life ad used my phone a lot. i want another kyocera, but it seems as though few companies offer them anymore. :(

I want to switch. I want Sprint PCS Vision service so I can go online through their data network with my laptop.
