Can anyone think of any reason why my pc won't turn on if everything is plugged in?! it worked fine this morning, i come home from school think i'll check my email before getting david from work and *blink blink* my pc won't turn on. i checked every wire they are all plugged in. i checked the power plug and switched it to a different plug on the power strip.. nada. and the power strip is turned on.

Does your monitor have power?

Have you tried turning the power strip off then on again?


Tried flicking the power switch on the power supply?

If none of the above works try disconnecting some stuff and try again.

If not I'd guess your power supply is dead.

This sounds stupid but smell the fan at the back of the power supply. If you get a burnt smell at all...then you got a dead one. As make sure you have nothing shorting out the PSU.

Pop the memory out of the sockets and put it back in. It could have come un-seated which will cause a short and not let the board boot. Also reseat any PCI / AGP cards to make sure nothing has come loose. Transporting your PC to LANS and loosen things.
