this happened earlier today. The site is now down, but what went on in their forum scared the hell outta me. I don't know if I'll be able to use a computer again for a very long time.

Heh, nice... wish I could have seen the other site.

They erm... in the very least gave you some nice ideas to check and maybe shore up possible holes in your own site :confused:

You should have Deo check out http://www.pirate4x4.com/welcome1.html … on their site when you try and view the source it just give you a window box saying copyright yada yada yada…no source…At least make it a little harder for the dirtbags to copy and paste your site…just a thought…

Nope, no source is safe, no matter what you do.

I doubt they snagged the php code, they probably just snagged the output of your code, which will display in a browser exactly the same... but it wouldn't be dynamic.

I can't say that they didn't get the code, but I don't know how they could have. I didn't see the site, so I can't verify :confused:

pirate4x4 may have right click disabled, but you can still view source... a la menu View->Source.

Case in point, here's a pic I snagged off their site :twisted:

Even using something like Zend to compile your php code wouldn't protect you from others viewing, in the very least, what your code outputs.

HAHHAA Nice and OWNED! I am glad you did the whole site in the edit, because I was going to call the picture grab weak! :D Anyway, I know you can never protect the output from getting taken, I just figured it would take a bit more work to do an exact copy with working links, etc. (I didn’t get to see the site either; someone didn’t email me when it happened…mod… :bang: ) I just figured that pirate4x4 was using Zend, SourceGuardian or some other php protection when I saw they disabled the right click…Guess NOT!
