I'm going to be proactive and post this into the Political Forum since it'll turn into that kind of fight.
Wow - two openings in the Supreme Court in one presidential term. The Judicial Committee is going to be busy this year.

I'd care if there wasn't an identical/worse one on the way. I can't help but be reminded of RMJ saying something along the lines of "I can get rid of you and just make another one that looks just like you."
(probably butchered that quote)

you know i used to be an aide for US Senator DeConcini in AZ. i met ALOT of people who knew him and told me stories.
he was a young attorney then in AZ and was known for harassing people of color at the voting booths. it's pretty well known and documented.
he had a great career and a notable record as Chief Justice i will respect that.
but, like i always say, you dont (or dont want to know) the whole story.

Rehnquist denied the charges and no substantial proof has ever been shown to this day. Once again , liberals seem to take 3rd and 4th hand accounts of incidents and relate them as gospel.
If its well known and documented can you please provide me with said documentation instead of just saying it exsists

hey, imma just surprised to see you get up as early as me? you get up at 4 or 5 AM too? me i'm just an early riser who likes an early start to get things done.
back to topic, there's articles etc. but i'm nit-picking because it's sometthing that couldnt prevent him from being voted in, the statutes were like 30 years past and he wasnt charged.
it wasnt racist, it was an overly ambitious partisan young lawyer who went too far in my opinion. but nonetheless, something he should have felt great shame for in his personal life.

but.........look at your quote
makes it sound like you have documentation, yet you cannot supply it?
it perfectly illustrates my stated fact that libs like you throw all kinds of wild and crazy accusations, yet when push comes to shove you cant deliver validation for your wild ass comments.
you have been exposed sir
PS: I was up late watching movies and doing a little research, hence the early morning post.

goddamn it, jebus,
In his confirmation hearings for the court in 1971, Rehnquist denied personally intimidating voters and gave the explanation that he might have been called to polling places on Election Day to arbitrate disputes over voter qualifications. Fifteen years later, three more witnesses, including a deputy U.S. attorney, told of being called to polling places and having angry voters point to Rehnquist as their tormentor. His defenders suggested it was a case of mistaken identity.

I will not get off my high horse until you liberals pick yourselves up out of the sewage and quit spitting the propaganda that makes you the laughing stock of the political community. I have to stay on my high horse so I dont get dirty from walking through the filth that is Democratic liberal america.
thats not proof, those are mostly all liberal rags. I submit to you once again, if there was wrong doing, how was he appointed to the highest judiciary post in the land. Apparently what these people had to say was so lacking in proof and facts that nothing could be done.
Also why would you link me stuff on Rehnquist that has nothing to say of the accusations made? Awww, I know you just did a google search and regurgiated the first 6 searches that popped up.
When you make statements that you try to pass off as fact the burden of proof is on you, for fuck sakes HP you flip flop more than Kerry, in one post you say you are nit picking and then you throw up all these links as if they are gospel. You lack the courage of your convictions, you and your agenda are transparent

um vets for truth ring a bell? darwinism vs. evolution? no one has a monopoly on truth yet one has to see who is really calling the kettle black and who is really trying to rewrite history?

Those links do not tell us much except for he was accused of something by "several" people in 1986.
democracynow and badattitudes can be discounted all together as not even being reliable information.
Even if you had the NYTimes up there bottom line is being accused by "several" people years after the fact is far from fact. Anytime any person comes in front of Congress on both sides of the aisle all kinds of "accusers" come out of the woodwork.
Does this mean he was not a racist at one time, certainly not he lived in the 50's for god sakes most of our grandparents and great grandparents would probably be considered racist these days.

So in short you heard about a guy you don't know, from a guy you barely know, who told you "stories", and took it as truth.
Wow. That's a real zinger of an argument you have there.
