I'm a Christian so it's obvious what I believe in. However, let's hear what all y'all think. And no, I'm not interested in debating my belief so take that flame elsewhere. :D

I have ZERO issues with anyone's faith in anything as long as they go do it over there ----------> and leave me and others alone as we leave them alone. Main problem most have with any organized religion (if they have one that is) is the breaking of the whole "leave me and others alone" rule.

More so now being most religions have a built in "we are right you are wrong" vibe that tends make for a whole range of problems when group A bumps into group B and so on.. after all, both of them are being told and saying ""we are right you are wrong" in the name of some god or cult leader or both....

Im not closed off because if you want to believe in a religion, I have nothing against it. I will never pressure anyone int believing my thought. This belief is just what I have come to understand through science. I do not know if there is a god, but I choose not to practice any religious morals or beliefs. Some would say that this would make me agnostic, but as I do not acknoledge the existense of a god, I am therefore an atheist. It does not make sense in the world of physics for there to be an all-pwerful being that created everything. There is a driving force behind everything and that is physics. I have been asked many times how everything started, and I have a very simple answer. THere was no beginning. We as a scoiety insist on a beginning and an end to everything. Before this universe, there were others. We are not the peak of all existence in time.

You see....this is my problem with Atheists. They spout off claims with nothing to back it up. They speak about the univerise in the language of science, yet fail to realize that until science can disporove something (god), then scientists must acknolwdge the posibility. Atheists do not, for the most part and if you do you should swing more agnostic, acknowledge the possibilty of something that has not been proven to exists...or nore important not exists. yeah that is my main issue with the hard core atheist. You can't "know" there is no god, much the same way you can't "know" there is one or two or a lint doll that is all knowing.. It's a faith based belief system.

You can say you don't think there is one but much like aliens, ghosts, voodoo and a range of other mumbo jumbo crap you can't be 100% sure being by their very nature they are issues that can't be disprove or proven by science.

My opinion, and my reasons to back it up.

Gravity can be proved because it can be recreated with any spinning object in a perpetual fall in a vaccum. It is created by a specific set of conditions.

God is created by man, the only references to god, or a higher being are man made. One could argue that this in and of it's self is naturally occuring (as it is in mans nature to create a sort of caste system in all senses) but that's more of a psycological belief than any sort of religious belief.

Of course proof in and of it's self can only be recreated by man, and even that must be held with faith that it will not be disproved.

So my final sumnation is that I am my own god as I am proof of my own exsistance and the only proof that I myself can guarantee to be real.

It's not like it can actually be proven either way, but it's a matter of how you interpret the evidence. A book may say that there's an invisible man behind me right now, but I may believe that book is a work of fiction. It's just so incredibly unlikely, and the evidence is lacking. It would be very highly improbable that that invisible man is there, even though I can't prove that he isn't. I accept the slight possibility, so I'm an agnostic. Taking it to the extreme and saying that there's no possibility of it being true is silly, but still a better assessment of the evidence than blind religious faith, in my opinion.

i'm certainly not religious, but i tend to believe that there may be a higher place once we leave earth. that being said, I understand how come there are people on both sides of the fence - those who are hardcore non-believers, and those who are hardcore believers.

I think that it is up to each person to come to peace with their own beliefs - and as long as these beliefs are not forced upon me - I'm completely good with that :)

No, now you are lumping all atheists into the same group. Just as there are religious people who are NOT extremist religious nuts, there are ahteists who just don't believe in god but aren't anti-religious nuts. As you pointed out previously, both sides require faith. unfortunately, the nuts take that faith to the extreme of NEEDING you to believe the same way they do.
