Fan might become part of history (http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/news/mlb_news.jsp?ymd=20031015&content_id=579912&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb)
I'm not really a huge baseball fan, in fact I never really even watch the games. Maybe have seen 40min worth all year? Ah but I still tune in for the big games every now and then.
Soooooo that was just classic "15min of fame the wrong way" for the poor guy. For those that missed check the link.. I'm shocked he was not killed right there in the stands.. [from the link] "For his part, the man stayed in his seat for another inning, despite taking a large amount of verbal abuse. Several fans were ejected for trying to have a go at the man."
yeah yeah they will say over and over how he did not cause the melt down of the team but still.. I would NOT want to be that guy in Chicago right now.
as a none cub/baseball fan I will admit that it was pretty darn funny.. I've NEVER seen a stadium go from rocking to dead quite so fast.. Not even when someone has been hurt..

I love some of the comments in the article from some of the Cubs players. Especially the one from Alou say he 'hopes the fan isn't scared for life over this'. You are DAMN right this guy is going to be scared for life over this. I would guess this guy will never go to another Cubs game. Especially if the Cubs lose game 7, this guy will become the poster child as the reason why the Cubs lost their chance. If that happens then I truly will feel sorry for the guy because he is going to be hated for a LONG time.
Die-hard Cub's fans are a strange bunch and I am surprised he wasn't just mobbed right there. Baseball is the only major sport where the fan can interfere with a game. All the other major sports either keep the fans back or the style of the game doesn't allow for it. At least he made a good bare-handed catch!

I read about this last night. I would not want to be that guy. The worst part about this is that this guy will get blamed and be remembered if they lose game 7.
It won't be the teams fault for not taking out Florida 3 games ago! It will be his fault cause he "made them lose game 7". There shouldn't have even been a game 5.

yeah it would not be as big of a deal if it was say the Angels or something, but if you know the history of the cubs then it pretty funny.. Errr of course I only know that history being they have been going over it due to the games...
at least he has a hat, glasses, headphones ect one so he is hard outside of the baseball park.. Oh man, I just wonder how much talk radio is going nuts over there now....

Cubs fan incident to become movie
12 POINT HEAD LINE GOES RIGHT HERE IN THIS
HERALD-LEADER WIRE REPORTS
Steven Bartman has inspired a movie.
Trade publication Daily Variety reports that Revolution Studios has accepted a pitch for a movie tentatively titled Fan Interference. The movie is expected to star TV sitcom star Kevin James of the CBS show King of Queens. Variety said it would tell the story of a fan who screws up an easy out, and then has to deal with the ramifications.

The Cubs fan is the talk of the nation and the free 3-month escape to South Florida is a way to keep the young man from avoiding the heat in Chicago. Extra steps will be taken so that his identity will remain anonymous
"An oceanfront retreat in sunny South Florida is the least we could do for the fan that saved our season," said Phil Goldfarb, President of the Holiday Inn Pompano Beach. "As dedicated Marlins fans, it is our honor to return the favor." (http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/031015/flw032_1.html)
