So, I think I can justify spending some money on new headphones because I use them so damn often. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I’m looking at the Sennheiser HD-280’s (http://www.sennheiser.com/sennheiser/icm_eng.nsf/root/products_headphones_professionals_04974?Open&row=2), they seem to be really nice and the price isn’t too bad either.

I like the Sony 7506 Pros... ($100) if you're looking to test out some of the better sets try bigger music stores.. They tend to have tons of them and the prices can even be cheaper then say Best Buy and so on.. Plus best buy sells crap hedphones..

I picked my up at Guitar City

Everyone says good things about the Sony V6's.

You can get a set here (http://www.ecost.com/ecost/shop/detail.asp?dpno=286052) for $40, which is a great price.

Get the sennheiser hd570's.

Me and honest player have them, there some very nice headphones. The sound quality on them is amazing, and the headphone cable is removeable, so if it ever breaks its easily replaceable. They are also extremely comfortable and weigh (sp maybe ?) next to nothing.

I highly recomend them. i think there about 120?

eh... correct me if I’m wrong (http://www.sennheiser.com/sennheiser/icm_eng.nsf/root/products_headphones_homeuse_hifisystems_04485) but the 570's are open headphones, which means exterior sound can he heard while wearing them and other people can hear what you're listening to. I'd think closed headphones would be the way to go for LANs, etc.

Anyway, went with the Sony 7506's. I read from multiple sources that the V6 and the 7506's have essentially the same design, so with two recommendations for the same headphone, figured that would be the way to go. So far I’ve been impressed with them.

The Sony's are what I use, and they've been working for about 15 years now...With great sound.

The 280's are great, but since your using them with your computer you should check out the hmd 280pro as well:

Same as the hd-280's but with a added microphone.

I'm using a cheap $20 pair of headphones I found at Fry's. Been using then for about 2 years and I've had no problems with them.:)

I'm using a Sony MDR-V250. Got it at Target for $30. Sounds great and has an in-line volume control. My only complaint is that the cord is short, but I fixed that with an extension.

I never had much liking for Sennheiser headphones. They seemed overated to me, but to be fair they are intended to be uber high-end, listening to classical music in a dark quiet room, kind of headphones. I'm very happy with my sony v6's. They are intended to be DJ headphones, therefore they can overcome background noise better, and they have a lot more bass.
