Now that the elections are over, isn't it about time we close this thread? Its mere presence invites flame wars in the nth degree, which don't do anything to build community here. People's feelings get hurt here, regardless of what the disclaimer says. I'd rather we all move on and work on base killing in Tribes2 instead.

Yeah, we were talking about this in IRC. If I keep things up here, I'll develop bad opinions of people that I like, and I'd rather that not happen. I'm sure the same can go for others around here.

Unfortunately politics is like religion in that people take faith in "their side" and everyone else is wrong. Not too many people are flexible on their beliefs in politics and any disagreers must be burnt at the stake.

I gotta say I'm with fish on this one. If you can't handle other people's opinions then don't read this forum. Why should this forum go away because some people can't deal with having political/idealogical differences with others, and they just don't want to hear it? Personally I like this forum. If you don't take what's said as personal attacks on your beliefs then it's pretty useful... Or at least it makes me think a little more about some of the things I believe....

I'm with bunny on this one. I dont take any comments here as personal, in fact, i laugh at most the jokes they make of conservatives cause a lot of times it true.
just like my religious beliefs, i'm flexible. sure theres some things i feel strongly about, but if buddha appeared and said "kill the heathens" i'd do it.

I'm personally not bothered by this forum as I can read it without any emotional attachment and, thus, laugh at everyone. Hell, I learned quite a bit while lurking here and got some good info that helped me when I voted. I'm just concerned that some people will consider the opinions (and the denigration of said opinions) and decide to leave our little community for friendlier shores. This group is pretty tight already and it would be a shame to lose people, no matter the reason.

As I said in #FLG last night, it's time for FLG to get back to its core competencies: gaming & fun... together. (/end HR geek speech) :D

Ok, that was all sappy but you get my drift. My point is moot since the forum is staying up anyway but I just wanted to make it clear that I'm not "butthurt" by this forum. Don't tell Swagger on me! :ROFL:
