blue_dirt got caught downloading team america on his comp via bittorrent. The ISP called his house and left his dad an email explaining that it's illegal.

True Story.

Hmm, why would an ISP do that? It seems that by them even looking, it would open them up to legal action. If I was an ISP, I'd just say, "Sorry dude, it's beyond my capability to monitor what happens on my network" and just go on playing stupid. Pretty sure that's what Speakeasy does.

Well they're a local company around here called Sonic.net.

I guess they have download monitors (I don't see how they got him this time rather than all the others). Yeah, it's pretty stupid though - but the fact he got caught is funny as hell.

Yes, I have been talking to my internal source, and he says it is a company called Bay ISP. They check peoples IP's and find illegal files, or hot files and then sell or send that info to the persons local ISP, i.e. Sonic.net. Turns out sonic.net won't do anything about it, and in the e-mail they requested to "please erase the file". I now have proper ISP blocking IP software. :)

there is also the "media companies" that have alot of computers setup just for you to download some niftay movie or another.. then they go after you
