I hope they wait for a good script and get a nerd to explain the transformers story.

I want to know which generation the movie will be based upon. Since I have a 5 year old son who is WAY into Transformers I know more then I really should. he is going to be super excited that this is going to happen. I just hope it's a good story line...

G1 Transformers - the original group created in the '80s would be interesting as far as movie goes but weakest on the 'cool' transformers.

G2 Transformers - post animated movie group...a la Unicron / Rodimus Prime would suck for a movie group.

G3 Transformers - the 'Armada' group with the mini-con / Unicron story line would be a very good basis for a movie. The Transformers are a lot more detailed with some very cool twists.

G4 Transformers - the 'Energon' group would also be interesting because it has some super cool changes to the whole Transformers story line. BUT...I also think this would upset a bunch of the 'old' time group that only remembers the G1 stuff.

If you want to get an idea how far the toys have come with the 'Energon' line. There is a Unicron figure that when in robot mode stands a good 2' feet tall.

One? PLEASE...you have never been around a 5 year old. My house looks like a nuked Toy's R Us. I would guess my son has over 60 different transformers. Those are just the 'big' ones.

It also doesn't hurt when your kids are the only grandchildren & great grandchildren one side of the family. You're kids get a butt-load of toys.

More info :

he Transformers

Status: Preproduction; debut set for July 2007.

Original series: This glorified toy commercial, which ran from 1984-87, is about shape-shifting alien robots who disguise themselves as trucks, boats, jets and sports cars.

The new take: Although the Transformer series and toys have taken several different forms over the years, executive producer
Steven Spielberg says the film will lean toward the original 1980s version.

"I was not a kid, and I loved them," he says. "I would buy Transformer toys for my kids, but then I would play with them in secret. (The movie) is going to be really steeped in tradition, but it makes way for a newer line of toys."

Expect to see the heroic Autobots led by Optimus Prime - the cartoon's John Wayne-like tractor-trailer leader - as they battle evil Decepticons, who threatened human life and Earth's resources in pursuit of new energy sources.

Armageddon crash-master
Michael Bay is directing the live-action adventure. Robots are rendered in photo-real computer animation

And here he is when he's a car. Yup, that's the new Camaro. I guess that's an upgrade from the VW Beetle, eh? ;)

I found these pics in this thread (http://fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=8&t=23261) at a Firefly forum.

Megan Fox being the film should add a few ++ points to the hottie level.. even if she does have Brian Austin Green's (guy from 90210) name tat'd on her.. WTF!!? People still do that sort of crap? I thought rule one of tattoos was not to get some girlfriends/boyfriends name..

??? What does Peter Welker have to do with the "transformer" sound when Prime transformed? I don't recall any 'bots talking in the trailer...
