Clearly I don't know anthing about making a game or what goes into having co-op but HOW hard can it be to just let two people run the single player levels?! I guess some triggers would be an issues plus of course you have to track the shots from both players..

Still, I would guess if one system was the server, tracking all that already it would not be that hard.. I've always thought they just don't bother being any effort for a small market = no..

Heck we had a GREAT time at one LAN with that one big co-op game... Ah forget the name now being it was never a huge hit, but you has a wep that spun barrels to swap what it did and you were a merc team doing fights... Pretty fun over all being a few times it was "Hey there are a lot we need to sneak......." only to have like Hoss go "Arrrrrrrr!!!!!" rush and attack and then after he died go "Oh there are a LOT of them there, whoops"...

The sad thing is there are no triggers in this game! Its open-ended so nothing is triggered by people. Very frustrating. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. just got dumped into the "Uninterested Box" now. Might try the demo version, but will not buy that POS until they fix that little problem.

That other game was Codename something or other. Aliens take over the owrld thing. that was pretty damn cool actually. But no one has fun in co-op so lets not put it in.

Sad thsat the last game I remember with co-op (FPS) was Duke Nuke em. I played that with Lamby over the damn phone line!!!

with a game though there are always triggers, a door opening, a monster dieing.. all triggers

deadlamb makes a point in that those should just be handled by the "server" and displayed to the client computer as it happens.. but that requires more code, aka either the engine needs to be written to handle multiple objects effecting the beasts or the world

or the level has to be rewritten to run seperate functions if there are multiple people involved.

Or all of the monster sub scripts would need to take into account the possability of multiple people and use strategies to match that possability. otherwise you have doom, blast a room and shut the door like tactics working flawlessly again

co op with no monsters or doors would be easy.. but it's those little things that just make co op.. alot of fun

Their claims and movies show that their AI interacts with each other in the form of fights and teaming up so that should not be a problem. Their AI is shown working together covering each other and fighting a group of other free thinking AI so I don't see a difference in replacing an AI with a human. Especially since most gamers that I've seen don't even use anywhere close to that kind of teamwork. The synching problem of the destructable terrain or doors opening could be a problem but not unsurmountable.

I just hate that a company comes out of the box promising something then at the last minute yanks it. Bertter make those deadlines....

Yeah, the last co-op game i played was Serious Sam. It was pretty fun, but i want some first person shooters to come out that actually let 2+ people play them. I am not 100 percent sure, but i don't think pain killer is co-op. I think that game would be cool co-op. Really the only co-op games these days seem to rpg's for the most part. Splinter Cell 3 is going to have it and that is going to be bad ass.

don't get me wrong.. definetly bullshit, just a bit more interaction is required... should they push it back to add that feature, since it was one they promised.. fuck yeah

How about we get a AVP2 XCOOP single player game going just like in the movie ALIENS?
In the XCOOP mode you can be a flamethrower guy, hacker, you can have a weld torch (different classes) AND YOU can also have the EXOSUIT (the big suit with cannons).
How about it? :)
