I just saw the new 4 demonstrations (stream for free), and this looks better and better.
So much details, and finally, DESTRUCTABLE maps :rolleyes:
You can destroy bridges, shoot the crane for it to let the container fall on someone. Finally, just like somewhat in HL 2.
We will see how it develops further.

I just hope the new BF 2 will support up to 128 players with HUGE maps, X5 times size of alamein and stuff like that.
Some really big battles and big distances like in Joint Operations.

Bleh. Modern day crap so we can have big lame tank battles and jets and helicopters... where the classes don't matter because infatry is uselss.

They make the team move forward, they get those goals, they make a team better and show what great team work is all about.. ya know, hang out, miles away from a control point, spawn killing some one who is at the base the team can't cap.. Maybe the new chopper will have even MORE fire power so GNR can REALLY get those spawn kills at the base as his team has no control points... weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
ah BF1942.. The only game I had such high hopes for great team play in, only to have those hopes crushed by wave after wave of poor team playing, sniping tank driving to the air strip plane campers.. Sep I'm sure BF2 will be better!!! Right?!?! It has to better, it just has to be...

Yeah but BF2 will have a ranking system where you can see how good the player is if he's a sniper. Based on that ranking system I am sure that clan servers will kick any "bf newbies".

The game does look pretty sweet, with the parts of the levels that can get destroyee that should really add something to the gameplay.

I'm just praying for decent network code. Massive destructive environments could make it laggy, even on a lan.

hehe common...in bf 2 if the player is a sniper he can only get kills on infantry. I believe that you can no longer use regular weapons vs vehicles. So against a tank or APC sniper can do jack.
Even if he did snipe you, call in AIR support to flush his ass out of the nest with a heli rocket or plain airstrike.
I belive that snipers are not going get that many kills in this game unless it's an all infantry map, which kills the point of vehicles being in the game.

No way, infantry is going to be the key for airstrikes. If maps are as huge as the game makers are predicting, you will lose time flying around looking for targets. This way where there is a battle (especially between buildings) painting a tank or a sniper nest is crucial. BESIDES, i think that infantry is going to be the only one who can capture thet flag points in the new base.
I hope that hovering around the flag on a helicopter will no longer capture it, same goes for tanks.
That will give infantry a new face.
And one more thing, if the infantry paints the target and a plane kills it, BOTH infantry and the pilot get the kill.

They neutered the helicopter firepower and made the AA guns a lot more powerful since then, still even one of my beefs about the game is how it does kinda make things gravitate toward base camping. Kinda a situation where like every point is taken, then everyone on the winning team kinda goes “ok, now what?”.
The sad this is that it does work, maybe not in a chaotic internet game but as part of a clan, if you have one person covering each point and reporting anything they see there, then with the remaining people keeping the other people pinned down at the base, the game is pretty much over.
Not as big of a problem if the teams are evenly matched, and I tend to play maps now that don’t have that problem, like the no fly zone maps.

Ahhh bigger is better. Might as well have nukes for total spammage. Airstrikes just don't get he job done.
Put it back in WW2. When it originally came out it wsa good. AA guns took down planes, limited vehicles, lots of infantry charges, a point to have a medic.
The modern one was eithe be a soldier or an engineer to keep your vehicle repaired. Grab a vehicle since there were 2 for everyone. Drive really far away. Spam spawn point because that is neat and stats are all that matters. And repeat. If you were really neat you would wait for planes or helicopters and lame it up in those. Lame, lame, lame lame lame lame lame lame lame lame lame and more lame.
