being I know so many of you like poker now, I gave this game a shot when I saw it listed on a site.. There is a demo out if ya want to take a peek too..

Breaks down the %% stats for odds of winning the hand, best hand, % of odds to get whatever, etc etc.. Or one can can make your own tour, own rules and so on... So of neat...

Site pimps that the game does not cheat and I have already seen the game do the sort of learning thing they mentioned. I was playing little bitch mode never doing anything but the rounder check check and soon as I started to bet, everyone would fold.. heh..

here was when I all in with the full house and got PUNKED by the bigger full house.. awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!... DAMN IT!!! I was the chip leader for a while there too, till a few really crappy hands..

anyways, I'm playing the full version so talk to me at the next LAN if ya just want to see what it looks like..

yeah can all sort of options too.. Can set it to not show your hole cards unless you move the mouse over to "peek" at them, so much like a real game you need to remember.

Just playing for a little bit you can tell the cpu is not cheating.. Ya know, like those lame strip pokers game where the cpu seems to "know" what you have all the time and fold even before you bet if you have a good hand..

It gives the stats for each hand? Well then you can never lose since there is no luck involved in the game... :poke: Poncho

I never said that there was NO luck involved, only that good players will minimize the luck factor with increased skill.

Oh.....since this is a poker thread just to let the few who care know, I placed top 3 in the tourny last night. We were all about even stacked and decided to chop the remaining prize pool up thre ways. Came out to almost 1100 each. Oh...and that was out of 95 people. Sure Lamb....it's all luck. :D

Never said it was all luck but it's damn far from a contest of skill. There is skill involved but it's not a big a factor as a true test of skill or contest of sport needs to be for the winners to go "I beat you, I'm better".. Player A, no mater how skilled could not beat a chicken or trained monkey in poker if the monkey got the cards.. That's not skill..

As for the tournaments.. Just messing with the program some I see the main theme over all for the playing and knocking others out of the game.. ya just need to push harder when you have the better hands being if you just play the check game, you end up slowly bleeding out..

Or, you check your way into a pretty good pot, only to have to bail out when the card the other guy needs shows and he raises WAY too high for you to rush in with..

In the game, I did 40 man tournaments and test HUGE crazy like pusher play I to knocked out at 40th-38th place a few in a row.. With better controled play, pushing on flushes more and so on I was able to get 17th and knocked out..

eh... who knows, with a little more time and heck poncho is there anyways, I might need to try some of these card room contest too.. :)

That program is nothing like a real tournament. It does give you the stats and pot odds, but it does not represent a true, real life game. Me being one of the few here who regularly play in live games, I can tell you that the dynamic at a table, sitting across from a player is much different than a computer GAME. Does the computer simulate a perrson going on tilt?? Does it switch up the NPC's play like you'd see at a live table?? didn't think so....

This style of play will get you nocked out quick in a tournament. Example..... You flop top two pair, monster hand, there are 2 spades on the board. You check....hopeing to trap. Next card....nothing to make the flush or improve your hand. You check again. Next card......Spade. You've just lost this pot because you "played the check game" and allowed your opponent to improve. Had you bet the right amount after the flop, he would have folded and you would have won. The check game is something that people who know nothing about poker except what they've seen on rounders would do. Also....playing this way will get you labled at a table quick as hell. If I know that somebody will check with a good, but marginal, hand.....I'll adjust my play accordinly. Lamb....come and sit at a game that Mykul has. You've never played, so you can't really know, but I will SHOW you that there is more skill than you think. :D

yes and no... it's just like a tour the same way all other computer gambling games also mimic play..

Sure the human element of hunch and bluff might not be there but the average player would be better off playing hardcore straight up statisicaly solid play over an sort of "I can read that guy" or "Oh I feel that card will be there, I'm lucky" sort of play.. Same sort of solid stat play that any other card or dice game player should use unless they are the rare top top top % players in the world..

as for the have not played, don't know stuff.. blah.. BS.. played tons of poker over the years, just not with you guys and at the time hold em go fish was not the main sort of game..

poker is poker and in the end there is just not much too it sep a numbers game and like all gambling, tons of people who don't understand the principals and theories behind the games.. The same sort of people who think that casinos make there money just off you losing...

I'm not a whoop ass player being I just don't find it that much fun to spend the time to nail down the stats..
