The new roommate's CPU fan is dying, so whatever little Intel app he's running makes a nice loud beep every few minutes. Apparently it doesn't really bother him, but it's going to drive me nuts. Anyone have a stock fan laying around? He's not overclocking or anything, so just about anything should work. (It's a 2.4, if that's relevant)

A bit more info would be nice...
Like, what size is his current fan; what kind of heatsink is it being mounted on, etc.???

Well, it looks like the heatsink and fan are pretty much inseperable (and probably proprietary), so both will probably have to be replaced. I'll rip it out later and get more info.

Heh, he actually has very little in common with torman. I'll drag him to a lan sometime over the summer (or he'll be at the one here).

I think I actually have a couple stock Intel coolers. You are welcome to it if you want it.

Heh. I'm sure p4 stuff is ancient tech to Hoss. He probably threw out all that old crap a year ago. Now if you want a HSF for the chip you'll be buying in a year or two, Hoss is your man, but try a surpluss shop for that old s478 crap. :D
i bought a new P4 a little while ago (2.8), but the heatsink is waaaay to big fo my shuttle case. i dont need it so you can have it if you need it
