Let's see what it is worth...
Case = $0 (Each window reduced the value by 1/3rd being that there are 3 windows case has no value)
Power Supply= 0$ (Finding 400W PowerSupplies laying around my apartment or another friends apartment shouldnt be that difficult
Rehobus=$0 (another useless addition to the PC that doesn't raise its long term resale value
Thumb Screws=$5 These have some value
Mobo and Processor=$50 Because they are used AMD hardware you would be lucky to even get this much from them.
Memory=$50-$100 (It's used....no telling how much data has been through them sticks)
Video Card= $5
Hard Drive= $30 (This drive can be bought New for $40ish (think $0.50 per gig)
Optical Drives= $10 a piece
What the best offer should be...
$200....
So does that $500 price tag include the monitor?

Critter , it's like this........
If you were someone we all knew, well, we would still gang up on you, but it would be done with love.
But, in order for FLG to help you, you have to help us. You can help us by contributing to the forums.
We'll help you by allowing you to post your goods and services without the expertise of our resident appraiser OnParole.
Next time, you'll get a response like...." 500.00 seems a little steep, would you go 350.00"
And one last thing. Most people that list stuff here, offer it a well below what they can get on eBay for it.
Good Luck

damn you guys are rough, I think onparoles 200 assessment is a little low, 300-400 sounds fair to me.
Lets see,latest price watch estimate
1.Athlon XP 2800- $109.00
2.Gigabyte K7 Triton MOBO- $58.00
3.Corsair pc3200 DDR Ram 2X512- $ 75 each= $150.00
4.Nvidia Geforce4 Ti4200 - $88.00
5.52x32 cd-rw (stealthed)- $30.00
6.16x dvd-rom (stealthed)-$25.00
7.Western Digital 80gb hdd w/ 8mb cache- $65.80
all the other shit- $60.00
Gran Total $585.00
NOW
thats all new prices, so you expect someone to pay 85 less for equipment that is probably a year or more older, thats not right.
300-350 would be very reasonable, 400 is not totally out of the question but you will probably be hard pressed to find someone to pay that.
My advice: part it out
Chronoglass

heh, pricewatch addup doesn't really work with a used computer though
as soon as you flick that switch and turn everything on, you're lowering price you can ask
300 - 350 would probably rather reasonable in your standard selling a computer in the paper sorta way, a large portion of the people on the boards though could put one of these together out of their garage (if they even had to go that far for the parts)
just buying a computer especially in the above case isn't just buying a computer.. gonna need a new video card soon, and probably a new mobo to up it to sata which will be a new hd.. which makes things less attractive
109 assuming it's a 400mhz cpu
88 is assuming it's a 128 meg video card
I'd agree, part it out

i think 50-75% of new retail depending on age, depreciation is a bitch :)

i got all of the stuff around january, all of it is new except for the case and rheobus.
the ram is like 2 months old
i think i would make more money selling it as a whole? the problem is finding someone to buy the whole thing, parting it out takes a long ass time since my goal is to get a laptop, i would be computerless for a while.
thx for the posts

Just sell it as a system to someone you know who needs a computer and isn't smart enough to tell the difference. Routine play.

yeah, basicly quick grand if you include the monitor (I know my mom got suckered into our first computer this way)

50% of retail for used stuff is actually pretty normal. Factor in that it's from a guy you don't know, and that drops it a little more, unless Critter as some sort of refs he hasn't posted, so I think OP's offer of $200 is quite reasonable.. And yes, it is a bitch the rate at which computer stuff depreciates...

Why thank you  Area.51... Yeah I think I would rather take a different approach to "upgrading" right now.
Seriously Critter you would be off parting it out. Word of advice... get active on some decent forums in your local area and you can part it out... or do the immoral thing and rip off someone who has no clue about computers.
Bullfrog

Critter: The biggest problem with selling stuff on gaming sites like this are these guys KNOW all about hardware. Trying to get top dollar will be next to impossible unless you find a real sucker. Example...if I was to buy your computer it would be the slowest machine I have.
OP is right...you will get a MUCH closer to your $500 if you part it out. If you where to do that there are a couple things I might be interested in.

Uh, is that an offer or a buyer?
whats really funny is if you sell the three main things (memory, mobo/chip and Video Card) that will put you awfully close to the 400 dollars hi side i laid out in my previous post

Wow a suggestion topart out the system has turned into an auction? Who would have thought :alien: . I'll pass because I dont want to get in a bidding war... $100 was my max. And that is with out knowing the latencies or actually chips on the PCB of the DDR Module.
