Does anybody here have a PC with XP Media Center loaded? I realize that you have to buy these pre-built, so I am not too optimisitic that I will have any luck here.

Can you run Media Center on any ol' PC, or are there strict hardware requirements?

I think it just needs to be able to run XP.
That's not counting other bonuses such as dvd player and so on.

I believe so, but you'd have to get it from the manufacturer. Probably of the tuner card.

I believe a ATI Remote Wonder will also work on Media Edition. If you want to try it out I have a couple Remote Wonder's you can play with. Personally I just use a good wireless keyboard and mouse combo and you get the same or better outcome....IMO.

Hmm interesting... I actually posted this for a friend, but I might have to look into this for my own uses. I tried the whole keyboard thing, but you can't see shitte when you display the desktop on a TV, sigh. And no, I dont have a flat panel or HDTV, heheh.

You could always run myHTPC on it. I'm setting it up for my MAME cabinet. Does a great job sorting movies, music, games, etc. It downloads the next week's weather off the net. And if you have a tv tuner it downloads the tv listings and does everything a TiVo does.

yeah, I've been playin w/ this thing for some time. It's pretty damn slick, and when I make my HTPC, I'm gonna use that for the GUI for sure.
