I was emailed by Rockstar Games today. Don't know if this has already been posted but:

GRAND THEFT AUTO: SAN ANDREAS ANNOUNCED

Rockstar Games is pleased to announce Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, the next iteration in the globally successful Grand Theft Auto franchise. Developed by world-class designers Rockstar North, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas will be available exclusively for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system and is expected to be in stores in North America on October 19, 2004 and in Europe on October 22, 2004. "In the past couple of years, we have put an enormous amount of pressure on ourselves to ensure we do everything possible to exceed people's expectations with Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas," stated Sam Houser, President of Rockstar Games. "Even though we still have eight months to go, we are starting to become very proud of what we have achieved and we can't wait to get the game into players' hands." Leslie Benzies, President of Rockstar North, stated, "We are extremely humbled by the success of the Grand Theft Auto series and it has made us push ourselves further than ever to create a title in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas that will hopefully redefine the Grand Theft Auto series and revolutionize open-ended gameplay and video game production values." Over 30 million units of the Grand Theft Auto franchise have been shipped to date, including over 11.5 million units of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and over 10.5 million units of Grand Theft Auto 3.

Rad, I've got some money aside for that one. I had so much fun just messing around in GTA: VC that I'd buy another title for sure. Playing through the story isn't all that easy either and I enjoy the challenge. Plus, there isn't another game on the planet where you can heal your wounds by buying a hooker, getting your junk jumped on, then kill her and take you money back. Love it love it.

I'm guessing San Andreas = LA? (Like Liberty City = NY and Vice City = Miami)

I mean, really. We've seen the current GTA twice. Does anyone really think that a new map and some textures qualifies as an entirely new game? Expansion pack material at best.

Dude, you're killing my buzz. I can always hope for midget hookers. That's worth the $50 right there. Even if it's new cars, new maps, new hookers and that's it, I'll still pick it up. Maybe even used. Gamestop is the shit.

Dood if it's in LA it will probably be set in the 90's that means bloods and crips and snoop dog and rodney king! Can't we all just smoke along? And having been to NYC, Miami, and LA the whores in LA rock. I'm sure they will have a cameo role for Julia roberts in this one. It would be great to have a mission where you go up to Beverly hills to rob some faggot ass movie producer.

I just like the principal of the game. Any game that lets you be a bastard gets attention from me. And not these game that you prentend to be a bastard but are really a good guy in the end. Bleh. Games are for me to go to someplace and be somebody else. I want to do shit I can't or won't do in real life... like sell drugs and kill people for the hell of it. So if you want to rehash that over and over again that's fine. It'll be like a FPS for the computer then. Most are unoriginal but put new pics on it and we will come out of the woodwork to buy em.
