Hey guys can someone please help me find the best deal availible for a Radeon 9800 Pro and a 9700 Pro.. So far the best I could get was $223 for the 9800 Pro and $202 for the 9700 Pro
Also do you think the difference in performance between the 9700 Pro and the 9800 Pro is close enough to make it a better decision to save $30-40 and go with the 9700 Pro....

Pick up the 9800Pro....It is worth the extra 40. Actually, no.....Don't buy it. Since I paid 400 for mine I don't want anybody to get this card at such a deal. I hate having to buy everything when it first comes out.
I'd go with the 9800 Pro. Sort of the situation of buy as much as you can now and you won't have to buy again for a longer time. I think in just pure terms of longevity, the 9800 has more features that future games may require at some point, so you might as well get that now Vs. getting one that doesn't and then having to upgrade to keep up with the pack.
I've had both, and no big suprise, but I like the 9800 better.

Yea....he's the bitch. You were going to buy a used card off E-bay, saving you 4 bucks, when you could have bought a new card from a kickass company like Newegg. I think that you have just proven who the bitch is.....

So how long does it take for newegg to get the goods to your doorstep?

Not long at all.....Here's a tip. Make sure you order before noon and pay the extra 1.50 for quicker processing. They will get it out that day and you'll get a tracking number. Here's the beautiful part....The part will be in town the next day and hopefully FedEX will deliver it in a day or two. Seriously....their standard shipping is like two day air for us here in Kalifornia.

Yes....but those of us who actually move around guring gameplay often need the extra power that the 9800pro affords. Since I know OnParole doesn't play like a little girl, he should get the 9800Pro.

Shit....you might as well throw an old GeForce2 in your computer. You don't need a lot of processing power to shit in a bathroom and wait for people to come in. Save your money for a big monitor so you can see across the maps better.

If you think about it though, he doesn't really need a big monitor either. One door can't take up that much screen real estate.

as for the vidcards.. I have a 9700 pro now and it seems to play everything fine at 1280x1024.. Sure, cost for cost if the dif is only a few bucks go for the 9800 as others have said..
Still, if you just happen to find a killer deal on a 9700pro, it's still a pretty good card..

Ok the latest developments in my search for teh card....
I went to my "local computer shop" and asked about a 9800 Pro... The dude asked what manufacturer.. I said I don't care... he spits the verbatim list from newegg but adding $70 to each card... the funny thing is that dood probably doesn't realize I can just go directly to his source... What happend when comp shops actually went through real distributors... it was funny how he told me for an Xtra $25 he can get it to me on Thursday.

Do you even know what the fuck you are talking about? First off....ghosting shouldn't concern you. Your too busy standing still in games for it to matter. Secondly....I doubt that the ghosting is bad at all on that. It doesn't show the response time, but as long as it is <25 it will be fine for games.

I wouldn't think so. There is no benifit to more ram, though you do get faster ram with the 256mb version. DDR2 I believe. Still not worth it IMHO.

Now one final question... should I just go with the cheapest NEW card I can find or is their a manufacturer that puts say bettter memory on their cards as to make them better than the other 9800 Pro's out there...
Ok so one more thing.... This will be my LAST AGP card I purchase... in 9 months or so I will probably get a PCI express Vid Card... So please keep that in mind with your recommendations...

Oh please.. Only thing!?!?!! That snow globe POS you are running is not even a trinitron screen. A cheaper, smaller 19 inch Sony would be x2 better.. A 18 inch LCD would be x10 better.. A lite brite would be a tie, if all the green pegs were missing.

Thank God I didn't buy the card yet... I have been too busy and haven't had the time to make it to the bank to deposit my tips. So here I am sitting on a ton of cash looking to buy a vid card and I just see prices dropping real quick... However I am also reluctant to purchase a vid card now because of the release of PCI Express this summer and the new graphhics chipsets that are being released in April. That means I am making 2 vid card purchases in 5 months. I just had a kid so I can't exactly afford to throw money away...
