"Loss-leader"

and "Upgrades".

These things in the stock config, make great - almost completely silent - file servers! *cough*Glen*cough* If you want to make a gamer out of it though, upgrade to a P4 rather than the stock Celery, so that you'll get an AGP slot ( unsupported "officially" ) Sell the ECC memory, and HD back to them for a ridiculously high price, and make this a waaaaaaay cheap deal!

it's still a cheap box for a server or whatever. And since when do you buy computers with OS's on them anyway parole???? Hmmmmmm?

You do have a good point there! I never purchase computers with the OS on them... I purchase the OEM version and put the damn OS on myself... but if this was your "typical"computer user they would have to go out and buy an os whichwould be the retail version not the OEM thus adding another $150 to the price...

No joke. It's a Canterwood (highest-performing Intel platform) in a Dell case. A pretty nice Dell case. If I was building a box right now, I'd seriously consider this as a starting place, especially since you can sell back the RAM and HDD for money to bring the price down even more.
