Just curious what you all use for your music/movie needs?

What I use now is a Pioneer VSX-D811S receiver which supports Dolby Digital-EX as well as DTS-ES and has 7.1 speaker outputs. It’s nice because I can go digital right from my computer to the receiver. For my front mains, they can take just a tad more power than the 100watts my D811S could provide. :) I have an old Pioneer SX-1050 that I use the amp section for (from the pre-outs on my receiver). It’s rated at 120wpc, but that’s back when they rated watts a lot more conservatively than they to today. My main speakers are a pair of vintage JBL L150’s. They went for $1200+ a pair back in 1979. The big Cerwin-Vega’s you see on top I just got from FAngel (Thanks!). That’s a temp location for them, I’m thinking of making them the surround speakers since my receiver can dynamically assign LFE but I’m not sure they would fit behind my couch :)

Can’t forget the couch with the bass shaker :)

Anyway, so what do you use to listen to music/movies?

Oh man, you got way more stuff than I have…I have a 27” fishbowl in the TV room and I have a DVD player on my pc I can watch movies…but I have to be careful because some times my 1.5” Boston computer speakers and matching 6” sub get out of control and I could get complains from all the neighbors…

I don't watch many movies - cuts into my PC and Beer time.

Maybe SOMEDAY when I'm old n frail I will be able to sit back and watch such classics as "Son of Rocky IV" or "Matrix Re-Re-Re-Reloaded 4"

My Family Room setup is a 32" Sony Tube TV with nothing but Sony audio equipment. That is the DVD Player, Tuner/Receiver, Cassette Player and VCR. My speakers are nothing special and actually pretty cheap. I don't even really use the surround-sound anymore. My kids mostly watch the TV and hearing RugRuts in Dolby isn't real important.

Most of my movie viewing is either done on my laptop while I ride the train into work. Or watching clips and stuff on my desktop with my Radeon 8500 All-in-Wonder. The AIW is also hooked up to my cable TV and I use it as a PVR on ocassion.

Let's see, the hardware part of my list would start and end at Plantronics headphones. More impressive might be the collection of software that I use to glean and play my entertainment. I have got more codecs and video players than could possibly be considered reasonable.
