I saw prototypes of these things on that PBS show with alan alda a couple years ago. They've come a long way since then.

I think it's fascinating. Not form a " Little dancing robot" perspective, but from an engineering/programing standpoint.
Very scary to think that this is available. Hard to believe that these things are less than 20 years from replacing armies and becoming a household name.
Fucking trip man. I wonder if they make and sell " Skins" for these. I think Poncho may be inclined to get one of these during the "Down season".

That is because they are probably all networked together running a mast program. I would bet those things are not autonimous. The one thing was impressive was the smooth motion of the limbs. The multi-joint looked really natural in its movement.

it wasn't a racist remark, but in my mind, they imagine (and build) some of the strangest things, some are extremely cool, others make no sense whatsoever. So to me, that qualifies as weird.

Actually, they are. Since their function is to be a "friend", they supposedly learn from you via a suite of sensors and intelligence software. I remember reading about this at length on their website some time ago. Tech link (http://www.sony.net/SonyInfo/QRIO/technology/).

Amazing, but still it's limited. The description didn't really impress me as far as it being able to be more of a toy than anything else. I was more interested in the exoskeleton idea and how it could return a MS sufferer to full mobility.

On a serious note, what was the name of the man-bot that was human sized? Would be cool to see a big one do stuff like that or replace blue ball with big knife. Got me thinking of that movie Master of Puppets heh
