GEFORCE LAN IS BACK!
GeForce LAN 6 to Take Place October 14-16, 2011 in Alameda, California
SANTA CLARA, Calif.—August 26, 2011—Attention gamers! NVIDIA today announced that the next GeForce LAN—number 6 if you’re counting—will be held October 14-16, 2011 on the Aircraft Carrier USS Hornet in Alameda, CA. This year we’ll be showcasing the highly-anticipated shooter, Battlefield 3. Come play to see why this game is sending PC gamers around the world into a veritable frenzy.
Featuring a BYOC area with seating for up to 800 players, GeForce LAN 6 will feature 48 hours of non-stop PC gaming, fun contests and amazing prizes. In addition, attendees can expect awesome Battlefield 3 tournaments and even special appearances by the creators of the game! There may be some special announcements by NVIDIA as well!
The Aircraft Carrier USS Hornet is a national treasure, having participated in two of the most historic events of the 20th century—World War II and the Apollo 11 manned space mission. This is the first 48-hour LAN party to be held on the USS Hornet, and some lucky GeForce LAN 6 attendees may even get an opportunity to spend the night in the ship’s barracks or play dodge ball on the flight deck!
Sponsored by Toshiba, MSI, ASUS, Falcon Northwest, Digital Storm, Plantronics, V3 Gaming PC, Cyberpower PC and EVGA, the registration for GeForce LAN 6 will start soon, so be sure to mosey on over to http://www.geforce.com/News/articles/geforce-lan-6 for more information. Well I guess it's not hard to "find a LAN location" when you have NVIDIA and EA level money to throw around.. lol

Even if they change there date I wont be able to go. I am going to take Friday and Monday off and I can't take too many other days off.

I will be there for sure. It will be fun to rock my 3 year old 2x 4870x2 setup at a Geforce LAN. I'll be easy to find, I'll be the one with the loudest computer, just like old times :D

I will be rocking a AMD Phenom II rig with a AMD 6870. If anyone that is planning to go and wants to all sit together I am trying to coordinate it over on the bay area gamers forum. This is going to be a huge LAN and if we ended up getting split we are not going to see each other. Link (http://www.thebayareagamers.com/phpbb/viewforum.php?f=20)

I'm leaning towards two regular seats.
Twice the space, twice the power and hopefully (but I dont want to have TPTB nip it in the bud) twice the raffle entries.

Damn $80 for this LAN but I am still going. This is officially the most expensive LAN I have been too. Is anyone going with the L33T seat? I don't think 1ft of space, 1amp, and priority seating is worth it. I am going to go with the LAN camp option but I hope it includes a shower. Its cheaper than a hotel room and better than sleeping in my car. When is the actual registration going to open?

Also I don't think I need anything over 4amps. I am running a AMD Phenom II 955 with a AMD 6870. I need to check it but I can't see it hitting over 3 amps on load.

According to their FAQ
Shower facilities are very limited and hot water may not be available.

I read the FAQ and it looks very limited. I may still want to get a room. I need to think about this and I hope I have an option to but the LAN camp later.
OH DAMN! I'll be living in Alameda as of oct. 1st! I'll be there for sure.

How long ago was the last Geforcelan? About 3 years? Was one of the Nvision conferences or whatever also a Geforcelan?

Geforce LAN 4 was on Nov 16-18 2007 and nvision was Aug 2008. The demand for this LAN was insane and I bet it set some world records. At least this proves that there is still demand for lan party's

And demand for PC gaming in general. For the last few years, most of the fanfare has been around consoles, which has been disappointing.

Oh, and I noticed that they want us to bring our own food and drinks? Is this not like every other GForce lan were that was all provided (at least Drinks and snacks were always provided).
That would blow having to bring a cooler to keep drinks.

They said this "BYOC ticket comes with two lunches, a dinner and a reception" so you will need to eat on your own a few times. I am not sure were I saw it but I heard no ice chests are allowed but I am going to look got that one again.

Im cool with eating meals, thats fine, just in the past drinks and snacks we're always plentyful. And they said to bring your own drinks, but keeping them cold will be a biotch.

It was fun for me anyways..
Hezi won a whole new system that was made for charity.
Cyan could have a won a system worth about $2000 if he was paying attention since he was standing about 10 feet away where his seat was called like 3 time :P
I won a 570 video card and 850 corsair psu for vounteering..

Fangel and I sported the FLG shirts.
But amazing venue for a lan and they gave out so much stuff. Sometimes the way they did it seemed a little bullshit, but hey it's their party.

I guess the big one was with the group Rock Paper Scissors...they sorted everyone by row letters and had them do RPS, he would ask who won and then indiscriminately say people were to go and stay, not basing it on if they won or lost. For our group row B, they played and then he asked who won, about half raised their hands and then he said "Not Quick Enough! you're all out HA HA HA!"....I shit you not he reminded me of Howard Dean (http://youtu.be/yshnhEHBtO4). He was also pitting all of a row of BYOC against a row of LEET, and the leet where in fewer numbers so they were just wiped out.
It was just silly, I would have rather he just pick a row out of a hat then pretend that anything other than his insanity would effect the outcome.

Yeah I would have been a lot happier if they treated us more like humans than animals while doing the prizes. My ears were toast after having people yelling at the top of their lungs right into my ears just for some tiny chance of the dude throwing something in our direction.
And so true about the Howard Dean comparison, lol.
