I'm a little confused. 3.6a at 120v would be 432watts? And you already have to pay for a "Hi-Powered Seat" at that point? What sort of systems do they expect people to bring?
My rig with my Q9650 @ 4.4Ghz and dual 4870x2 cards can pull over 1000w from the wall in a game. Guess that means I won't be attending this LAN

Is this the Super-Awesomesauce crew with the tards with attitudes and no footwear? Or was that another LAn at Intel?

Once again... I won't be attending. I don't need to get fired for calling somebody a fucking cock smoker. :) I may swing by if some of the old schoolers are there just to shoot the shit or a bit. It's not like it's out of my way. :D

I still don't get the power issue as the site list it as a 242 person LAN.. One should know what their building can or can't do and adjust the amount of people accordingly..
being the people who go to LAN's still tend to be the more hardcore gamer set and they are going to lean towards more powerful machines in the first place.
maybe it's just not that big of a deal and whatever they have mapped out is fine.. I'm just thinking that 242 x $35 = $8400+ and you can rent pretty much ANYWHERE for that level of coin..

Maybe a lot of people these days show up with laptops -> much less power in that seat?

I call shenanigans. Have you actually measured that kind of power somehow? That's just a ridiculous amount of power.. that'd be like 200W for the CPU and 400W for each vid card.. 2x what they should be..

don't get me wrong, though.. the level of stupidity of charging for "high powered" seats that give you .6A more power is indescribable.

[foxnews mode].. Why do you hate capitalism? Sir answer the question!! No answer the question!. Clearly you hate American and want the terrorist to come over here and map out the power for you! I mean that is what you want, correct? Don't you!?! Just admit it [/foxnews mode]

Not so much capitalism if all the money goes towards charity link (http://www.yourlocalunitedway.org/news-events/lan-fest-intel-benefits-united-way).
But yeah, $5 for 0.6 more amps is retarded. The price two lans ago was $30 for a regular seat.

blah that changes nothing... it sounds like they have that so called "high power" area as some way to cover their ass when someone keeps popping a breaker.. "Oh you should have been in the HP area!!"
but that being said, I hope you guys have fun or at least have something happen that is rabble rabble rabble worthy.

Last one earlier this year, decided to empty his small bbq warm contents into a green area in a parking lot.. It started a fire..
This time who knows what is going to happen...

I would not call 100% shens but 1000watts seems a little ridiculous. If he is running dual 4870 X2's and some 15K drives I could see it being close to 900watts under 100% load. I think a system like this is plain stupid if you are running 4 GPU's. My core i7 laptop with a mobile 5870 pulls 120 watts on full load and it plays every modern game just fine at 1920x1200.

Soop.
I just registered for this lan!(feels goodman) i could give a shit less about the "power rules" my buddy Moody has been to the previous ones and he never had a problem with power once and he has a decent rig.
I really don't know why those rules exist considering any serious gamer's(Thats who they are catering to correct?) rig will pull wayyyy more than they allot.
TLDR fuck it man im going to game my ass off the whole weekend.
What i wanted to know was, Who is going to this lan and Where are you sitting because im staring at the seating chart wondering who the fuck is actually going to this lan.

well shut my mouth. I guess those monster video cards really do draw that much power. jeez, and I downgraded my dual system because I thought 250W was too much to run once in a while.. I've gotten so stingy in my Repairman

You can submit a support ticket and get a refund...

This is an option that is very rarely offered and is one of the things I give E-Sports credit for.

oh no way. thanks glen. I'm still on the fence, though. I wonder how late they'd give me a refund?
Don't know if I want to keep you waiting swag.. since I could get a full refund, it's not a cheap ticket any more :D I'm still tempted to go for just a few hours, since it's for charity and all.. (and I might win something :D dammit! now I jinxed it :( )
