I had trouble decoding the multitude of part numbers so I went and found the layman Dell website breakdown of the systems.

http://docs.us.dell.com/docs/systems/dcol/specs.htm#system_information

These would make great little DHCP or FTP servers if you just wanted to say throw in a 200 gig drive or whatever. A TV PCI card would most likely make it usable as a media center PC also. If I didn't work and Intel and have an unlimited supply of stuff like this, I'd probably buy one. ;)

Yeah, I'm serious. My car is already too small for my stuff and tormans's stuff, so would you be able to stop off here first? I'm in carmichael, on fair oaks near san juan. I'm also interested in one of those 19" monitors, btw.

FAngel

Haha, we could drop them off in the afternoon, as I'm leaving at 8:45 and wont get there untill after 10:30 or so and have 4 people.
Does that work for ya? And the 19, was it the Dell or the generic one? (I guess I could just go look at the other post :))

yo, save me one...my bro is really into music and making "phat beats", and i think this would be a great beginner system. i think all i need is a pci card (tv in, right?), and 1 more 128 memory, and a bigger hard drive. would this system work for mostly audio stuff? also, you said server...how well would you say the server would run? ... in that case, reserve me 2. also, what kind of hard drive does it require...so i can start looking for a bigger one. what kinda memory is it also? thanks

They're 2k systems, and not all that easy to haxor.

Download these:
http://ntpass.blaa.net/bd011022.zip
http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/rawrite2.zip

Extract those to the same folder, format a floppy and run rawrite2. Put in bd011022.bin when it asks for the image. It will write the floppy from the image, which you can then use to boot off of on the 2k system. Follow the instructions, and change the password for the Administrator account to whatever you want. Problem solved.

And don't be a bad person and use it at school/work.

Snu66les, I have some for sale if FAngel doesn't have any left. The ones I have are between pII 350 and PIII 600. They've got 20 gig hard drives and whatnot, just lemme know what you want to use it for and I'll look at my parts and give you a price.

snu66les
01-11-2004, 05:51 PM
Cool, thanks Asken! I'm looking to upgrade my sister-in-law's machine fo her, so really all I need is a case, mobo, processor, and RAM. We have everything else. Is that something you can do with the PIII 600 parts you have? If you want/need to do the whole package (w/CDROM, HD, etc), I'm sure I can find uses for the other parts.

She's upgrading from an AMD K62 400, so really anything is a huge upgrade... ;) I'm looking to keep it around the original $50 price tag, that FAngel was asking, but we can talk. Let me know, thanks.
