Anyone point me in the direction of a good program to lock certain folders in XP so noone but myself can get into them? I have two users on my system and want to lock certain folders out and or hide all together.

Need to hide your porn huh?
Here's one I found. (http://www.everstrike.com/default.htm)
Here's one that I thought was free, but I'm an idiot. (http://www.webattack.com/features/lockfolderxp-704-426816.php)
Edit: ^I was wrong....It's not free.

If you are running NTFS remove Everyone from the permission and place your account in Full Control. Just make sure the other 2 are not part of the local Admin group and you are cool.

If you are running NTFS, just go to the security tab in the directory properties and lock it down appropriately. That would be the best thing to do, rather than relying on some hokey 3rd party programs.
WinXP won't show the security tab by default I don't think, you have to go to folder properties and turn off the simple file sharing. It is the last checkbox iirc.

I’m somewhat at a loss as to what to check and uncheck. Tons of options to choose from. I’m kind of hesitant to lock myself out of my own folders.. or worse lol. The other user is an admin as well. I am the main Admin.. will this still work (given I figure it out)?
I figured it out I think. I added the other user name to the list, denied all access then applied the settings. I logged in with the other user name and got an access denied messages. So permissions given from the main admin account (mine) no other admin can do anything with those files... right?
This is exactly what I was looking for. Perfect stuff.
Anasazi.. I tried one of those two programs before.. I was less than pleased. Thanks for the effort though, I appreciate it.

Except if he (Wil?) is also an admin... then, can't he just go into the properties and give himself permission? After all, under MS, all "admins" have the same authority....

If he was an admin, he should be able to take ownership of the file and then reassign permissions. But I think that would only be possible if the CREATOR/OWNER had permissions on the file - if you *ONLY* gave permissions to user Punk then nobody should be able to do anything.
Administrator in NT isn't as powerful as root, they can still be bounded.

So I need to take ownership and not deny.. ill take another look at it.

Why not just put the documents in "My Documents", and password protect your account?
There's a great program that I use, as well... Stealth Disk (http://www.tucows.com/preview/223607.html)
It's a simple program, but highly effective, but not free, unless you *ahem* know somebody with a "key".

I tried that first. Password protected my account, chose "protect my files" (or whatever the options said) and applied. Then, while on the other account.. it let me go in my documents without any trouble at all. Let me right in.
Would it matter if I have My Documents actuall files on another partition on another disk? C: is windows and I have my documents targeted in E:. Would that matter? I mean, I directed it to the folder.. its not a shortcut or anything.

I believe that there is a setting from within My Documents that allows/disallows other users to view/change your files.

If he's an administrator on the box, he would be able to take ownership and reassign permissions. Even adding the user name with a deny will not stop them from being able to do that.
