Yeah, those bastard former roommates of mine let me leave for work for the summer (ahh, summer.. I miss college) and then went to the Nvidia LAN and scored BF2 and some assorted high end hardware (CPU's, RAM, etc).

Just ask Paladin about it... he loves that 64 bit AMD processor he got :D

If you old farts are going I'll see about getting work off since it is in the middle of the f-ing week. Gotta get my LAN fix somewhere

Chugging contest:
32 people each get one can each and face off, one versus one. The first one from each pair to finish chugging moves on to the 16 person round. In the 16 person round, each person is charged with pounding 2 cans. The first person to finish out of this pair moves onyou get the idea. First person to chug 16 cans faster than anyone else wins!

Again!....All over!

I dont think they usually announce that unitll right before, or even the day of. Also, this year is two days vs 1 and with the amount of swag, it's worth the 30.00 (Pending they figured out the lame network issue that we had last year. Which I think they have as they've done a few 600 man lans now and I remember seeing that they got some new gear to handle it).

Google is close to rolling this out, and yes it will be in San Francisco. It wont be super fast, (users are capped at a pretty low down/up speed), but free is tasty.

Greetings and saluations - It's beena while since I posted on here, but I've got an offer that I figure one of you gaming nerds might be interested in.

A few weeks back I purchased a seat for the this LAN event sitting next to Vandalous, Boss99, and Gremlin (I think), but due to monetary circumstances, I cannot attend. I have already paid the 30 dollar enterance fee (that is non refundable), so I'd like to offer it up for FREE to any FLG member before I put in on Craigs List.

From what I understand, you get free pizza and drink the whole time, all the gaming you can handle, plus a bunch of schwag. The only real kicker is that you have to take a few days off (you 9 to 5ers) and you'll probably want to hop a lift with the guys I mentioned above.

Let me give you a small hint....where did PDX just hold another large event this past summer? That VERY large building you see is the "place".

For those trivia people....The arrow on the map is actually pointing to a San Jose landmark pizza place. It's been there for about 50 years and makes some damn fine deep-dish.

Are you talking about the "4x4" AMD platform? Yea... it'll be $2000 + by the time you load it up. Think about it. The CPUs alone are going to run 700-1000, then you've got 3-400 for the board (probably) and then another 800 for dual 7950's. This platform is a joke hands down. It's a last minute marketing effort by AMD to slow the gains of Intels quad core. Hell... the fanboys are even calling it quad core. LOL.

I got a CoolerMaster CMSTACKER 830 case, Gigabyte GA-M59SLI-55 Amd socket AM2 MB, a Coolermaster 600 watt SLI powersupply (Gremlan won one of these too), and a Zalman CPU cooler, oh and a Woot Traffic cop (Lamest thing ever)

Fincking Mameman not only won the laptop, but the grand prize system as well (Dual Nvidia 8800 gtx graphic cards, Intel Extreme Dual core cpu, 2gb of Corsair Extreme memory, DangerDan water cooling kit, 1000 watt (cant remember the brand) psu, and another 700 watt psu, Coolermaster case, and the new Nvidia Intel SLi MB released today (6 something). He fucking made out like a bandit....

Well dude, neither of our teams had quite the amount of sheer mass the winning team had going for it. At 250lbs I was probably the biggest guy out of all the TMC guys we had at the LAN. We even had a girl on our team *gasp*. As for home Turf, well we do have a lot of members in the bay area but we are also fairly spread out. We had members there from Yuba City, Sacramento, San Diego, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Luis Obispo, Santa Cruz, Watsonville, and more. It was about an hour drive for me.

I won an XFX 7900GT, an XFX 7900GTX, a Zalman CNPS9500 AM2 cooler (which I traded to FAngel since he won an AMD bundle with an Zalman Intel CPU cooler - WTF?), and a Corsair HX620 PSU (which I traded with Gremlin for his CoolerMaster 600W since I'm not going to use that PSU and he will).

I'm going to sell the cards and PSU, along with my existing paired eVGA 7900GT cards, and pick up a higher wattage PSU and 8800GTX.

The 8800 is BAD ASS. A single card beats a 7900GTX SLI pairing in current games. The 8800 is also SLI-capable. There are several good reviews out on the net already with numbers. It's really big though... like Voodoo5500 big. It's not for the small cases. The card also required two 12V PSU connections, like a current SLI rig. I'm buying a PSU with 4 12V rails just to future-proof myself.

Anything larger than XL (anything BESIDES XL, actually) was in scarce supply. The only time we were offered a choice was when we checked in. We tried to talk Swagger into making his a tube top or a half-shirt but he didn't want to draw too many women to our area and interrupt our gaming. He's considerate like that.

MAMEman was really cool. You don't meet too many genuinely nice people like him at testosterone-geekfests like these so it was very refreshing. Hell, our whole table was cool and that's why we won the Tug O War.

BTW, if you go to http://www.nvidia.com/object/reality_redefined.html and watch the first video in the Buzz section, you'll see Swagger near the end of the video, just before the Russian dude in his World of Conflict CCCP jacket.

Seeing Command & Conquer 3, Hellgate: London, World in Conflict, and Supreme Commander live was wicked cool. Seeing the Goliath tanks blow up an Obelisk was very refreshing.
