I tend to equate it to those who are super "brand loyal" (like Mac enthusiasts for example) who believe that their "product" is superior and tend to look past the shortcomings. Same thing with politicians - none of them are perfect - but the Dem's or Rep's will stay "brand loyal" and stick by their choices even tho they suck ass.

I don't even have to read the link to respond to this one - what do you fucking expect from a system that relies upon the general ignorance of the average citizen and perpetuated by lies and greed? Seriously, politics is nothing more than who can they find that is batshit crazy from either side of the political spectrum and pass them off as moderate during election years. Democracy is supposed to be founded on the principles of free exchanges of ideas and finding reasonable compromises to the challenges that face the states and the nation as a whole. Instead it is more like two camps with out of range howitzers, heavily fortified, and they haven't invented the wheel. They (republicans/democrats, who the fuck cares about independents honostly) just fire salvo after salvo at one another without gaining anything and call it reasonable debate.

I used to be a pretty die hard republican, not a stupid "Bush was sent to us by God" asshat, but I voted for him in 2004. Ask Breadman, me and some of his limely friends debated politics one night for like 4 hours back in 2004 before the election. Since then I've re-evaluated my political standing on a lot of stuff, mainly because I think Bush is a fuckup who couldn't talk his way out of a paperbag. But he's the fuckup we elected, we reap what we sow. I read about all these democrats whining in the paper and online about how "after the mid-term elections" this and "we're gonna fix things in 2008" that, why not the fuck now?! I mean you people still know the difference between right and wrong (not right and left), right? I can understand those who think that the President have done some stuff illegal and want another Clinton-esque impeachment so you can even the political scoreboard, but honostly don't you have more important shit to take care of like VOTING. For people we elect to vote on our behalf they do an awful lot of not-voting. I guess that would be ok if instead of going to work we just called in and told them to send the paycheck anyways but we weren't going to be coming in.

I'm a conservative now. Small government, low taxes, people take care of their own shit (less government programs/handouts), and most importantly people standing up for what they believe in and not what Fox, CNN, MSNBC, or whatever have spun into a slurry at that particular moment. I hate to it point out but most of our politicians are from the older generations that are fucking us over. Demand more from your elected representative and maybe they'll look up "reasonable" and "compromise" in the dictionary.

He came into a presidency with an economy that was starting to show signs of what happened under Regan. remember it takes about 6-8 years before you see signs of what a presidents impact is on the economy. In all reality... it was regan that balanced the budget after he was in office. The economy was due to explode... and it did. If anything, clinton did far worse for us than good. Everybody knew that the economy was going to bust. Hell, Nader specifically told clinton that unless people stop spending money and investing in companies that do NOTHING then we are due for a crash. Clinton didn't listen to this and kept telling the public that everything is great when he should have told people to stop investing. Yea... that sounds fucked up but that's the reality. He probably could have gotten away with it too since he had an EXTREME amount of political capital that he never used. What's political capital you ask? Let me tell you...

A president's approval rating is like a savings account. The higher the % the more that president can do. Usually when he uses that capital his rating will drop a bit, regardless of what he does. This is spending your political capital and it is what ANY good president does. If the presidents approval rating doesn't fluctuate or it stays high constantly then that means he really isn't doing much. Clinton's approval rating hardly moved. It peaked and stayed there while Bush's has moved all over the place. Bush has been using his political capital, for right or wrong, but at least he is doing SOMETHING. I'd rather a president do something while he can rather than sit on his ass and jerk off while looking at his polling numbers.

Well... if the MAJORITY of people in this country feel a certain way then, guess what, that's the way this country SHOULD be ran. Unless something has changed we are still a democracy of sorts. Yes we are more of a republic but the ideal is still there. If 60% of the public wants it to be a law that we MUST rub oil all over our bodies and run down the street naked then that's what we should do. Now... that may change in the next 10 years and as long as THE MAJORITY of people want it changed than it should be changed. That's the way this country works. I accept that, even if I don't agree or like the direction it's going. Take Gay marriage for example. I don't like the fact that it's not allowed... I think it's lame that it's not. But guess what... a MAJORITY of people in this country don't want it so I accept the fact that it's not allowed and don't go around bitching about it, placing blame on the "rednecks."

Bottom line is that times will change, and with that so will people morals and beliefs. Now as that happens this country and it's political structure will change with those shifting beliefs. If you can't live with the fact that this country, and it's laws and politics, shift every few years, then I would suggest that you find a nice dictatorship that you agree with and move to that country. Trust me... you won't be missed.

From those things that we totally out of the presidents control things have turned around. Now... is this due to the president? Well... there are differing opinions on how much of an impact the president really has on the economy so we'll just go with this is all because of Bush since you LOVED giving all the credit to clinton.
