Last year Avery Grem and i had to wait in a chat room for 2 hours just to get the 5 people ready to go. try doubling that and it would be a logistical nightmare (4 cc's worth at least :D)
I think once the flow gets going this will be fine

After school. 2-3 (If I don't head straight to work)
At work. 6-8 (Gotta wait for everyone else to leave. :))

Last year I had LT. I would have gone with him, but i'm worried about Eli's ability to keep the defenses thinking pass like Brees could do.

I'd be more concerned about the potential personal differences between Schottenheimer and LT. Schottenheimer is notorious for not taking any bs and after LT's performance last year and the recent announcement that Tomlinson won't be playing anymore in the preseason I think there might be something brewing, could be a new T.O.-esque saga.

DeadLamb
08-23-2006, 03:31 PM
could be a new T.O.-esque saga.

Ah TO.. sooner or later someone here will draft him, no doubt he has skills but I laugh that no one wants to risk an early pick on a player who might only play a few games. Not due to injury but just due to being an all around dick head and getting thrown off a team. Way to be a "pro" and just stfu and play.

as for the draft, clicking along pretty well. We have time and this WAY better then waiting for hours in a chat room.. I should make a chart of who is already taken by postion being in a few more rounds it going to be "wait is that guy still there?"

edit.. ok link at the top of the first post in this thread goes here, Drafted Players by Position (http://www.fusionlangaming.com/forum/showthread.php?p=131432) for those who just want to see any given player is taken.. Two more for the long walk to their last home the Raiders, T.O. and L.T. will both come through Oakland as players in the twlight of their careers, we have a thing for "Spoiled rotten head cases"......LOL

I took TO last season, and i'll be honest. while the whole controversy was going on, the guy was still one of the top 3 producers in the league. Just because the Eagles couldn't deal with his bs and complaining is their fault. they knew their season was a wash, and felt they needed to cut their losses early.

ok.. so how does that work? At some point in a later round a person just picks a team like a draft choice? Can ya burn pick more then one, even if that's a dumb idea maybe? So if I wanted I could pick the San Francisco 49ers Def as my next pick!? BEST EVAR!!! (or maybe not)

Also I see BN listed like 6 times on the yahoo site? I guess that's just a blank?

Roster Positions: QB, WR, WR, WR, RB, RB, TE, K, DEF, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN[

That's assuming that T.O. plays this season. Parcells is even more of a hard case on "trouble" players than Schottenheimer. It will be interesting to see if Owens can keep his trap shut and play.

BTW, pick already Anasazi

What happens if one of our players get injured mid season?

I guess it comes down to our FF rules.. the setting are not that clear.. I just se "Post Draft Players: Follow Waiver Rules

Are the BN players back ups? Do I need to get a 2nd QB in case of leg break or can I just go pick one up from who ever is left if mine eats it?

in fact we never talked about trades at all.. Do we have a limit? Can I swap out my star who is sucking for a scrub who is onfire? Limit on how many trades? Maybe none?

I guess it comes down to our FF rules.. the setting are not that clear.. I just se "Post Draft Players: Follow Waiver Rules

Are the BN players back ups? Do I need to get a 2nd QB in case of leg break or can I just go pick one up from who ever is left if mine eats it?

in fact we never talked about trades at all.. Do we have a limit? Can I swap out my star who is sucking for a scrub who is onfire? Limit on how many trades? Maybe none?

There is a distinction here you gotta pick up on. theres trades and then there's the free agent wire.
You can release players and sign free agents pretty much as you wish, so if your star player (or 3 like i had last year) gimp out you can drop them and grab someone else. Also, if you see someone step in thats awesome, you can pick them right up (like avery did with carson palmer last year).

Trades refer to "i will give you X for Y" the reason rules are defaulted in place is because people in public leagues will try to cheat and have two players collude to give one of them a bunch of stars. I'll turn that off so you can drop your star player if something happens *no shenangins*

Does anyone know wtf the last few picks have been?

No, he gets one pick at the end of the 2nd round, and one at the beginning of the 3rd round, cause hes number one. you'll notice breadman did the same thing between rounds 1 and 2.

I took the Steelers Defense...

hum, must have been a cut and past screw up being the other list was right.. Fix'd now.

it's sort of funny how that run on QB's at the start rather then the normal RB RB RB RB sort of picks has spread the draft in different directions. Next few rounds I was going for WR/QB, most everyone else was RBs.. Now I would guess people will start to pick up QB's? Being they have a few WR and or RB..

Who will be the first to draft a POS kicker? :) Are we going to make all the rounds in time or do we break down and go 2 per a pick in the late rounds just to speed it up?

Fassio
08-27-2006, 05:40 AM
We had better figure out something because it's been a week and we only have 4-5 players picked. We may need a schedule like in real football drafts and if you miss your pick time (a one hour slot) you double up in the next round or something. This checking the boards 12 times a day waitng for people to pick is getting annoying.

DeadLamb
08-27-2006, 06:16 AM
I'm also willing to do a virtual que for people if they want.. I have one of the largest gaps between picking players so if someone is at the point of just waiting to pic off a list they have and going down the list in order: A, if not A, then I want B, if B is gone I want C.. etc etc I can -sub- in for them..

at least for a round or two.. if you are someone who says needs a QB for example and you know it's one of these "3" depending if they are still there or not.

it's not really going to effect who I pick being I already have mine pretty much scoped out unless someone else takes them first.. if not me just PM someone else or whatever..

time wise we are still on track but at some point we might have to do some sort of speed up.. Is there a day/time where most everyone could just hang out on the board for an hour or so and knock a bunch of rounds back? I know that's like the live chat thing we wanted to duck but this would give more "flex" then a live chat so no reason we could not knock back 8+ rounds in a few hours one wed night or whatever..

GeekDiva
08-27-2006, 07:08 AM
I'm 3 hours ahead of you guys but I have this entire week off from work. If you set a time, I'll try to be there (I have another in-person draft to attend one night this week). If I can't be on the boards then I'll make sure to send a list over to Lamb. At this point, it doesn't really matter to me since I can scramble on the waiver wire during the season if necessary.

DeadLamb
08-27-2006, 07:37 AM
just throwing out ideas.

I'm along for the ride like everyone else, it's Paladin's football party :)

I have no problems just going pick by pick for the next few weeks.. I just don't know if we are going to make it time wise. As I said, a fall back idea of ramping up how many pick one gets per a round in the late rounds works as a -speed up- also, if we have too.

good luck with him...he made like 8 points for me last year...:|

This is where it pays to know whats going on in the game avery.
Last year the 'boy's O-line got banged up, and they didnt have much depth. unfortunately, this meant witten, an outstanding young tight end, was relugated to helping guard bledsoe.
This year they've made some key additions, so lets hope they let him off the line of scrimmage for awhile. he'll be a powerful #3 target behind TO and Terry Glenn

How are we doing time wise with the draft? Everyone should be close to having there starting team.. Do we ramp up the picking amounts to finish up? Fine the way we are going now?

At the least I think it's at the point where everyone should be PM'ing someone their next scrub team picks just to speed this by human que.. Unless everyone fine where we are at right now? Have til sep 9th right?

worst case, the pick PM'd to someone to draft for ya is taken, and we wait. Best case, it's not and this speeds up a ton..

If we do go to two picks and that's Paladin's call being this was his idea in the first place, need some rule about doubling up on postions.. Other wise a few of you going say RB, RB.. then the next guy goes RB, RB.. again... eats up too many back up players for those picking lower in the draft..

meh, as I said, Paladin's call.. we have another week ya know, not in a rush.. If everyone was sending their pickss to other people, we would be done by now too.. Even if it's just "Take this loser if he is there..." and not a big list..

Hello Guys and Gals, We NEED TO GET THIS DRAFT DONE QUICKLY!!!!

yeah we need to step this up to give some time for all the info to be loaded up over on the yahoo page.

everyone should just be PM'ing me a list of who they want "if he is there" in some sort of order or a list that goes like RB RB TE TE etc with "don't draft two RB in a row etc.. It's ONLY 3-4 more picks ya tards. Make a list that you wants SF Def as a back up and Joe Nedney as a spare kicker and get this done..

I already have a list of 6+ draft picks from SadPanda and Trailer Park Ninjas to act as a human que.. there should NOT be much guess work left as it's just mostly the bottom row..

I already know who/what I want for my last 3 picks and I'm pretty sure the idea is soooo dumb, no one is even close to thinking it.. well, unless :tinfoil:

unless warner gets injured

unless? More like when... he has not gone 16 games since 2001.. lasts two season it was only 10 games.. Not that I fault the guy for that too much, modern day linebacker can break almost anyone who does not have a $$$$$$$ front line to slow them down at least a little.

Paladin
09-04-2006, 10:22 PM
yea, but look at what he had in 2001. a killer running back (davis), and 2 top-tier wide recievers (bruce and Holt).

Look what he has now. a killer running back (edge) and 2 sweet recievers (boldin and fitz)
i look to them giving the nod to lienart either next season, or once they've written this season off (at which point he won't have been producing the numbers, and i'd have seen it coming) whichever comes first

DeadLamb
09-04-2006, 10:35 PM
yea, but look at what he had in 2001.

if he was 25 2001 and 30 now it would not be as big of a deal but we are talking about 30 to 35.. Really more like 30 to near 40 body wise being those have been hard years playing a pro contact sport AND getting hurt..

Meh, we wait and see.. all these last rounds pick are ment to be throw away crap anyways. :P

edit.. Doh now I guess we see why the Sad Pandas have taken 4 QB's in the draft, he has already lost one before the season can even start..

I do have a contingency plan here guys.
The way I see it, by the end of today, early tomorrow, we should be well into round 13. thats getting us into the "mr irrelevent" picks, seeing has how these guys usually get released once people start playing with the waiver wire.

*I will have full rosters for everybody sometime wednesday*

If we haven't dug that far into the picks, I'll just go through and grab some random bench warmers for everybody, and they can make the rest of their moves on the waiver wire. Seeing as how this is week 1, i'm assuming people aren't going to be doing a whole lot of roster moves, and go with their initial starting 9, and at this point everybody has at least 1 backup for the big 3 positions (wr rb and qb).

NO, NO, NO. This was your idea in the first place to have an offline draft, now suck it up and finish it. No excuses, if by Wednesday evening say by 10pm PST we have not finished then you enter what people have picked and just go with it. We can pick up free agents on our own through Yahoo I assume.

yeah and that is why he will just roster fill with who ever.. It's better to have someone there to release and go then a blank.. Who knows what might go wrong with the site if you leave spots open? No point to risk it..

as for the online draft, this worked out fine.. Everyone seems to have gotten starters etc and at this point.. No big deal, we knew it would take a while.. If we have anything like this next year maybe we will do it differently, like some sort of -PM your next pick- rule or whatever.

Do we need to PM Paladin our last 3 picks knowing if you don't get them, we get "who ever?" Do ya need any help moving the data over to the yahoo site?
